Introduction to Vga Planets  top

What is Vga Planets?

VGA Planets is a graphical, multi-player, play by electronic mail, space war game. This game simulates combat in space between galactic scale empires. The game emphasizes colonization of space and the development of the planets that you will find, colonize and/or conquer. How well you develop these resources will determine what kind of starships (freighters and capital ships) you will be able to produce and how well you will be able to defend your space and attack your neighbors. What is the actual version of Vga Planets?

Actually you can get a Windows-client for the game or if you prefer not using Windows, also get a DOS-version of the game.

newest Windows version is: 3.52.021, released June 2, 2000
newest DOS version is: 3.00, released 1992

Both versions are fully compatible. So players using Win and players using DOS can play together in the same game. You'll find both versions in our [download section].
Actually Tim Wisseman, the programmer of the game, is working on a completely new version: Vga Planets V4.0

What is difference between version 3.x and 4?

The difference is: version 4 is completely different to version 3. Resources management, races, battle, etc. all looks different. So of course both versions are not compatible. V3 players have to play their own games, same to V4 players.
