News for Tuesday December 24, 2002 · Happy Holidays from echocluster.com

Ho Ho Ho,

we wish all our players Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas!

If John Pokornik aka JTK (or a friend of him) reads this news: please submit us another eMail-adress we can set up for you. The current one bounces all our mails so we're pretty helpless...

Be greeted Galactic Traveller,

we are currently in the progress of completly reconstructing and updating the website to the latest php-technology that will remove a lot of useless JavaScrip'ing and make the site running smoother and looking better on Opera and Netscape Browsers. Thereforce some pages of the site may not be uptodate yet but will become within the next days. I hope you like our work (including the stars of course!!) and have fun in our games and on our site! We will add more stuff soon, be prepared! :-)

Furthermore we announce our Winter Pause between following days: 23.12.-27.12. & 31.12-02.01. (no hosts, nor mailcheck will run on those days!)

Dear Vga Planets Fans,

new games are starting. Star Dust (beginner) and Hawk Eye (profi) are waiting for players. Both games use a special cluster-custom map. Take your seat now!

Regarding the question I was asked several times within the last days: Yes, there will be a christmas-pause this year as well as a new years-pause. We will announce the exact days later this month, but for those who are already frightening to die of boredom: Don't be scared, we do not intend to pause for more than 7 days all together. :-)

In our new poll we want to know how many points you should get for completed games. Currently you get as many points as you had in game's last turn. For an explanation of the points-system please check out the Scoring & Ranking-section. Due to the poll results in ~1 month we will change the counting (or not) to 2x or 4x.

Our last poll results:
Q: Which client do you mainly use for playing your turns?

35% Winplan (57)
31% Win-/Dosplan with Echoview (51)
15% VPA 3.51+ (new version) (24)
13% VPA 3.51 (last official) (22)
4% JVC (7)
1% JVCP (1)
1% other (1)
0% Dosplan (0)

Very interesting is the fact that nobody seems to use DOSPLAN anymore, while 2/3 of all VPL players use Winplan pure or in combition with Echoview. Almost 1/3 uses VPA, nearly same number using the last official as one the new versions.
